Some of our 360º digital photographs are panoramas
in a traditional strip form, but the majority are made into pairs
of circular 'photospheres',
which are a novel, in-the-round way of representing the external
world.
Photospheres are magical all-round spherical views from overhead
to underfoot. These circular photomontages are created from
up to 100 photographs which bring together everything visible
from a single point. With an upwards-looking photosphere you
are drawn up into space, and with a downwards-looking one
you hang suspended above a miniature world. The eye finds
each slightly warped area in a photosphere to be both internally
consistent and also a logical part of the whole. This surprising
alternative to traditional perspective gives an effect which
is reminiscent of glass balls and paperweights.
Photospheres are created with the latest computer software
for manipulating the photographs, using a process which takes
several days.
The photospheres are printed on archival photographic paper
which will last over 100 years, and are personally signed
and numbered by the artist as limited editions normally of
25. They can be printed at various sizes from 45cm x 45cm
up to 152cm x 152cm. See our price guide
for more details.
